First time
Pleasant, dizzy feeling
by Will
My name is Will and I’m a 17-year-old high school senior, and this is the story of my first salvia trip. I’ve never done any hallucinogens, and I’ve only done weed once. However, my friend and I heard about salvia, its effects and legality. Thinking about it, we decided to give it a try. I ordered some 10x and made a water bong out of a Gatorade bottle and a pen. So when the stuff arrived, we tried it out as soon as possible. My friend took the first hit, but he didn’t get the bong to work right so no smoke was actually produced. When it was my turn, I took a big hit and held it in for as long as possible. The trip wasn’t as intense as I had hoped, but it was definitely a bizarre experience for me.
I took it sitting on the grass in my backyard, my friend looking down at me, waiting to see if I would go loopy or something. The first effect I noticed was my vision was, as best as I can describe it, moving slower than my head was. It’s hard to explain; if I turned my head to the left, my vision would turn as well, but it kind of lagged, for the lack of a better term. Now partly because I was new to this and partly from the excitement, I found it hard to control my laughter. My friend told me to shut up, and I tried, but I knew I had to get inside the house. I didn’t want to sit on the grass, I wanted to be comfortable.
When I talked, my voice sounded like I had plugged ears; nasally and distant. When I got up, my coordination was defunct and I had a small bit of trouble walking back inside. I was still capable of rational thought and I knew exactly what I was doing. I walked into my room and lay on the bed. I was laughing uncontrollably now, and my head felt very hot. My friend came into the room and started laughing at my laughter, which only made me laugh more. I can describe it as being tickled, how you want to tell the person to stop, but you can’t get it out because your voice is blocked by your laughter. It was a tad frustrating, but I told him to get out of the room so I could enjoy the rest of my high without disturbing the neighbors. Then the high faded away as quickly as it had come.
I never actually hallucinated, other than the visual “distortion” at the beginning of the trip. It was sort of a pleasant, dizzy feeling. I smoked a few more times that day, but I never got back to that first high, so I’ll save it for later. I was sort of disappointed at the subtlety of the high, but it was a great experience nonetheless. I ordered some 50x, which I hope will provide some more interesting visuals. However, I am glad that I tried the 10x first just to get an idea of my tolerance level. If I had started on the 50x right away, it might have discouraged me to smoke it anymore. This certainly was a pleasant experience. Salvia is a great drug to take in a safe, comfortable environment with no one talking (but preferably no one there at all). After all, I do think this drug should be taken responsibly, but I certainly won’t stop in the near future.
