First time

Parallel world

I was around sixteen when a female friend of mine invited me over after school. We had experimented with various substances before, but nothing really strong or hallucinogenic. Without telling what it was, she held her bowl up to my mouth, and told me to take it all in one breath and hold it. In retrospect, I probably should have refused, but it happened pretty quickly.

The stuff was pretty potent; it felt like burning dust in my lungs. I let it out after a few seconds, and my trip was immediate; there was no gradual transition. There was a blinding white flash, and what sounded like glass breaking. I looked around the room, and the ceiling and floor were made of water. The walls were replaced by thousands of light-bright pegs (remember the light bright toy?) flying perpendicular with one another at light speed past me.

I could hear my friend talking to me, calling my name, and saying things like "oh my god, are you okay?" I could also hear her brother saying "what did you do to him?", but I couldn't see him. Their voices were really strange and distant; they sounded mechanical and squeaky, like a really low quality mp3.

I looked at my friend, and she looked completely normal, save for her clothes. She was dress as some kind of Egyptian princess, and her clothing was made of legos.

My logic was also extremely off. In my little parallel world, I decided to do some investigating. The choice was barely a conscious one though, it felt more like instinct, or like watching a character in a movie, just from the inside. I reached for her bowl, and it levitated toward me. I glanced inside, and my vision zoomed in many thousands of times of normal magnification. This made perfect sense to me at the time. With my microscopic vision, I could see dozens of microchips inside the bowl, and each one had a Pikachu drawn on it. I came to a conclusion, and informed my Egyptian lego friend that the microchips we had smoked (theres some of that logic) had been infected with the Pokemon virus, and that was why the world was malfunctioning.

Then suddenly the noise and water and flying pegs vanished, and I was sitting at a beautiful antique dining table. I was on some kind of old steam boat, but it was extremely luxurious. Everything was made of gold with wonderful chandeliers and expensive wine on the table. I was surrounded by historical figures from the past, like George Washington and Napoleon. They were talking amongst themselves, but I couldn't hear them. I could only make out the sound of people at other tables laughing, and the zinging of their glasses as they toasted.

Suddenly a bizarrely stylized, 2d, black and white cartoon cat appeared on the table. It seemed to only have two animations, like those old sprites on Super Nintendo games. It stared at me for a moment, and I don't know why, but something told me this was the wisest being I had ever encountered. It's eyes seemed eons old. I could hear a voice in my head, in that strange, low quality sound... and it kept repeating this gibberish phrase. I've never forgotten it to this day, more then five years after the fact. It kept saying "Yidda-yiskeepee Yidda-yaskeepee Yidda-Yiskeado Polkx." I don't know why, but I was absolutely certain that this was the cat's name.

It stared at me for a moment, then started to walk away. It reached the end of the table, but kept walking on the air. I got up to follow it, and the world slowly faded back to reality. I was downstairs, slouched in an easy chair. My friend's brother came in from the kitchen and asked if I was okay. I said "yes", but I was honestly still trying to wrap my head around what happened. I got up and left, walking to my house. My senses didn't fully return until about half way there, but when they did, they were alive.

I was really furious at her for tricking me for a while, and we grew kinda distant after that. Now that I look back on it though, it was a worthwhile experience. I really think I might have taken more away from it had she prepared me though.

Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoyed my little story. Best Wishes.
